What does environmental education look like in other sectors?
I look for examples all the time. I look for examples in daily life and occasionally attend gatherings when I have a hunch that there might be a connection worth exploring.
Let’s take, for example, the time I attended my first policy forum. I wrote about this experience and shared my reflections on the CarbonSessions podcast. I learned a lot about policy forums and the people who go to them, and I also learned something new about myself. I like policy forums. They are a valuable way to see how others do environmental awareness work. My experience made me more determined to describe what environmental education looks like (or could look like) in other sectors. What roles exist? What roles are missing? Where are the gaps? How might independent environmental professionals fill these gaps?
What have you noticed when assessing what's happening in other fields?
Do you do environmental awareness work in a field not considered to be traditional environmental education?
I invite you to share your experiences during Reach Beyond Your Field, a mixer I'm hosting on Wednesday, February 12 at 3:00 PM (Pacific).
Let's explore environmental education across sectors. Bring a friend.
